Overview
It’s fall: It's time for football and Faegre Drinker’s annual webinar focused on retirement plan matters! Our sessions this year highlight issues that have been top of mind for our clients. Mona Ghude and Kathleen Adams, co-leaders of our retirement plan group, look forward to hosting you for an informative webinar on the following topics. We expect that you will walk away with a few more plays to add to your benefits game plan!
- Blocking and Tackling Benefits Issues in Transactions: We will huddle up and run the strategy board on some of the trickiest moves in employee benefit plan compliance, including coverage testing and the plan lineup; partial termination issues and how to know when the referee blows the whistle and what that means for vesting; and PEO plans and how to figure out who is holding the ball while watching the play clock on transitions.
- Breaking Down the Plaintiff Attorneys’ Playbook: Our ERISA litigators will provide a field-level view of the latest trends and case law developments shaping the ERISA litigation landscape for retirement plans. We’ll break down the new playbook plaintiff attorneys are using, highlight how the referees (courts) are interpreting the rules, give you practical coaching tips to shore up your fiduciary game plan, and discuss actionable strategies to protect your team from unnecessary penalties.
- Avoid Fumbling the New Roth Rules: The end zone is quickly approaching for Roth catch-up implementation, and you do not want to fumble on the goal line. We will do a deep dive in into all the new Roth requirements and options applicable to defined contribution retirement plans, including Roth catch-up contributions, Roth employer contributions and Roth RMDs. We will also discuss the impact these Roth changes may have on deferred compensation plans.
