Washington, D.C. partner Jonathan Tarnow and counsel Katherine Armstrong presented at the 17th Annual National Conference on Allied Health Education, which was hosted March 4-6, 2020, in Houston, Texas, by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. Jonathan and Katherine delivered a session titled “School Data Privacy Is Much More Than FERPA,” in which they discussed the myriad data privacy and security laws that can apply to higher education institutions other than the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. These include the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, HIPAA, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the New York Cybersecurity Regulation, the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act.
