California Consumer Privacy Act as a Class Action Vehicle

Overview

San Francisco partner Paul Riehle will discuss “California Consumer Privacy Act as a Class Action Vehicle” at the Bridgeport Continuing Education’s 2020 Consumer Class Action Litigation Conference on January 10, 2020. He will be joined by Jordan Lurie of Pomerantz LLP.

With the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) going into effect on January 1, 2020, counsel for both plaintiffs and potential defendants are preparing for class action litigation based on the legislation. Paul will explore the significance of the CCPA’s private right of action, the limited scope of the private right of action as a matter of statutory interpretation, defenses to possible UCL class actions, and the role of previous decisions from state and federal courts concerning data breaches.
