Drinker Biddle Retail Team Attends RILA Retail Law Conference

Overview

Drinker Biddle partners Nate Bolin, Mike Daly, Doug Heffner, Justin Kay and Kathi Murphy participated in the Retail Industry Leaders Association and Retail Litigation Center’s 2018 Retail Law Conference in Austin, Texas, on October 10, 2018. The conference covered pressing issues facing the retail industry, including trade policy and tariffs, data privacy laws, net neutrality, and litigation related to the #MeToo movement. Participants engaged in roundtable discussions, networked with each other, and attended speaker presentations and Q&A sessions.

Chicago partner Justin Kay spoke at the pre-conference Meeting of the Members for the Retail Litigation Center as part of a panel on litigation trends, focusing on biometrics and geolocation litigation. Washington, D.C., partner Nate Bolin was joined by the head of government affairs for Best Buy Co., Inc. on a panel entitled “Surviving the Trade Tornado,” which covered major trade law developments in the past year, strategies for working through the USTR process, and the projected outlook for 2019.

Drinker Biddle was a proud sponsor of this year’s conference, providing a complimentary charging station that was very popular among attendees and kept them literally and figuratively “plugged in.”
