John Przypyszny and Jonathan Tarnow Speak at Stetson University National Conference on Law & Higher Education

Overview

Washington D.C. partners John Przypyszny and Jonathan Tarnow conducted a two-and-a-half hour session regarding the current federal legislative and regulatory landscape on postsecondary education law and policy at the 38th Annual Stetson University National Conference on Law and Higher Education. The conference was attended by more than 225 college and university general counsel and senior administrators.

John and Jonathan discussed how Republican control of both the White House and Congress is likely to affect federal education policy discussions, reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, and other postsecondary goals and initiatives. They also addressed what the change in administration might mean for the U.S. Department of Education, both in terms of new leadership and regulatory priorities. In particular, they discussed the Department’s postsecondary activities of the last eight years and what might be in store, including possible revised approaches to matters of institutional accountability and oversight, transparency, educational innovation and the role of non-traditional providers, Title IX enforcement, and other matters.
