Your Mexican Maquiladora Facility: Important Considerations for U.S. Trade Compliance Personnel

Overview

The Drinker Biddle Customs & International Trade Team is hosting a series of webinar presentations that focus on key trade relevant and trade sensitive issues impacting the movement of goods across international boundaries.

Washington, D.C. associate Nicolas Guzman presented the third webinar titled, “Your Mexican Maquiladora Facility:  Important Considerations for U.S. Trade Compliance Personnel.”

Mexican maquiladora facilities play an important role in the manufacturing and supply chain operations of many U.S. Companies, but often the overlap between U.S. trade compliance and the maquiladora’s operations goes unnoticed. This webinar discussed some of the challenges faced by Mexican maquiladoras that will impact how U.S. Trade Compliance personnel address issues related to Valuation, Tariff Classification, and NAFTA stemming from a maquiladora operation. We also discussed integration of the maquiladora compliance processes into U.S. trade compliance and provide an update on relevant policy changes in Mexico that may impact U.S. trade compliance.
