Overview
Cheryl Orr, Partner and Co-Chair of the Labor & Employment Group, co-hosted the American Conference Institute's 22nd National Forum on Wage & Hour Claims and Class Actions, which was held September 29 and 30, 2014, at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, Los Angeles, CA. This two-day conference brought together federal and state judges, senior in-house counsel and top law firm litigators to discuss a variety of wage & hour topics, including federal and state enforcement initiatives, exempt employee determinations, proposed FLSA minimum wage increases and directives regarding "paycheck fairness," healthcare reform litigation risks, California developments in suitable seating, developments in class certifications, and much more.
In addition to her co-hosting duties, Cheryl also co-moderated the first three panel sessions of the conference, "In-House Insights on Wage & Hour Litigation Management: Responding to Enhanced Enforcement; Compliance Strategies; Selecting and Retaining Law Firms and Distribution of Legal Spend in Today’s Environment; and More." The panels featured a total of twenty in-house counsel from a number of Fortune 500 companies.
