NJ Medicaid Managed Behavioral Health: Managed Care Issues
New Jersey Hospital Association
Overview
Albany partner Matthew Amodeo recently presented on New Jersey’s managed Medicaid behavioral health program and managed care contracting issues to members of the New Jersey Hospital Association.
Those in attendance at the event, held May 10 at NJHA’s headquarters in Princeton, N.J., included department heads and managers of inpatient behavioral units at hospitals and free-standing inpatient psychiatric facilities.
New Jersey is in the process of migrating all hospital-based behavioral health services to managed Medicaid, meaning behavioral health providers will now have to contract with four New Jersey managed Medicaid payors in order to receive Medicaid payment. Behavioral health services will no longer be accessible by Medicaid beneficiaries on a fee-for-service basis.
