Faegre Drinker Welcomes Former Elevance Health Transactions Counsel Greg Gentry to Corporate Group

Faegre Drinker announced today that Gregory Gentry has joined the firm’s corporate practice as counsel in the Indianapolis office. Greg joins from Elevance Health, a Fortune 20 health insurance company, where he was associate general counsel supporting mergers and acquisitions, venture capital investments, joint ventures, and other strategic equity transactions.

Gentry’s arrival closely follows Ike Willett, a healthcare transactions counsel who rejoined the Indianapolis office in March.

Gentry guides organizations on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and complex transactions. Clients also benefit from his in-house experience leading highly regulated transactions across the health care and insurance sectors. Gentry is valued for his practical, business-oriented approach to navigating sophisticated deals.

“Greg’s experience leading a broad range of transactions in health care and insurance is a great fit as we continue to grow our health care transactions team,” said John Marcil, leader of the firm’s corporate practice group. “Greg knows how to navigate multijurisdictional deals, regulatory approvals, and high-stakes negotiations, and his perspective from his time in-house will be invaluable as we advise clients through sophisticated transactions. We’re excited to welcome him to the firm.”

Gentry managed the $400 million acquisition of a national stop-loss insurance carrier and captive reinsurer, navigating regulatory and structural complexities across multiple jurisdictions. He also led the $115 million acquisition of a provider-owned health plan, coordinating simultaneous regulatory approvals and operational execution to achieve a critical year-end closing. His experience extends to divestitures, such as the sale of a long-term-care insurance portfolio through an assumption reinsurance transaction involving multistate approvals and negotiations with legacy reinsurers. Gentry’s breadth of experience enables him to lead teams through the disparate pieces of transactions.

Gentry earned his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University and his Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
