Alumni News and Moves – Fall 2022

Our alumni have forged diverse career paths and taken on interesting new adventures and personal challenges. They are thought leaders, advisers, mentors, advocates, business executives, elected and appointed officials and trusted professionals.

We are proud of the contributions our alumni continue to make to the legal and business communities, grateful for the time they spent with the firm and honored that many have stayed in touch with the firm and each other.

• Heather Bailey (Chicago/Labor & Employment/2008) was promoted to Partner at Amundsen Davis LLC in November 2022.
• Hanna Coleman (Minneapolis/Busines Litigation/2015) was promoted to Managing Attorney, Commercial at Xcel Energy in November 2022.
• Bill Callison (Denver/Real Estate/1996) received the 2022 Martin I. Lubaroff Award from the ABA Business Law Section Committee on LLCs, Partnerships and Unincorporated Entities on November 10, 2022. The award honors lifetime achievement, mentorship, advancement of the LLC and partnership law specialty, and commitment to the field. This spring Bill will receive the University of Colorado Law Alumni inaugural Deans’ Choice – Brooke Wunnicke Outstanding Mentorship Award. His law school text on Contract Drafting, with co-author Alan Vestal, will be published in February by Carolina Academic Press.
• Amy Feldman (Philadelphia/Labor & Employment/1994) published her first book, Ezra Exposed, about a middle schooler whose world turns upside down after he gets a smartphone for his 10^th birthday. It’s written for middle schoolers but also for parents, educators and librarians who want to talk to their kids about internet safety and digital censorship. Amy is currently the General Counsel for The Judge Group.
• Jigar Gandhi (Washington, D.C./Insurance/2018) joined Swiss Re as Head L&H Regulation and Vice President in November 2022.
• Mark Meissner (Washington, D.C./Government Advocacy/2003) was promoted to Senior Vice President, Education & Engagement Officer at the PCI Security Standards Counsel.
• Carla Johnson (Indianapolis/Real Estate/2016) was recently promoted to Executive Director & Associate General Counsel of the Corporate Real Estate Department at Indiana University Health. In this role, Carla provides strategic planning and operations leadership for 9.5 million square feet of non-hospital real estate assets.
• Nancy Cantaloupo (Washington, D.C./Intellectual Property/2003) earned tenured status, was promoted to Associate Professor of Law and was named the first Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging at Wayne State University Law School.
• Heather Sager (San Francisco/Labor and Employment/2007) was recognized as one of the Daily Journal Corporation’s 2022 Top Labor & Employment Lawyers and one of the Top 100 Women Attorneys in California. She also received an outstanding volunteer service award from the San Francisco Bar Justice and Diversity Center for pro bono services provided. Heather is currently a partner at Perkins Coie.
• Chanelle Han (Des Moines/Labor & Employment/2018) joined the California Civil Rights Department as Counsel in October 2022.
• Karla Robertson (Minneapolis/Business Litigation/2000) was named an “Innovative Leader” by Corporate Counsel at its 2022 Women, Influence and Power in Law Awards honoring top women lawyers. Karla is currently the General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Social Responsibility Officer at Pentair.
• Jackie Bolles (Indianapolis/Corporate/2007) was named Executive Director, Treasury and Investor Relations at Allison Transmission in October 2022.
• Daniel Brown (San Francisco/Corporate/2017) joined Sand Canyon Corporation as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in October 2022.
• Alex Cruz O’Malley (Chicago/Litigation/2013) joined Accenture as U.S. Labor & Employment Counsel Manager in October 2022.
• Allison Egan (Philadelphia/Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation/2016) joined Morgan Lewis as an associate in October 2022.
• John Finston (San Francisco/Corporate/2017) joined the New York State Department of Financial Services as Executive Deputy Superintendent for Insurance in October 2022.
• Laura McFalls (Philadelphia/Corporate/2013) was promoted to Assistant Corporate Secretary at Johnson & Johnson in October 2022.
• Andy McNair (Chicago/Corporate/2005) became Vice President Strategic Initiatives at Sunrise Senior Living in October 2022.
• Shane O’Connell (Florham Park/Products Liability & Mass Tort/2016) was promoted to Senior Counsel – Cell Therapy Commercialization & Development at Bristol Myers Squibb in October 2022.
• Dennis O’Reilly (Philadelphia/Corporate/2011) was promoted to Partner at Goodwin Proctor LLP in October 2022.
• Nikolaus Schibli (Washington, D.C./Intellectual Property/2011) joined Phillip Morris International as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel in October 2022.
• Elena Simion (Boulder/Corporate/2014) was promoted to Partner at Kirkland & Ellis in October 2022.
• Ge Song (Washington, D.C./Government & Regulatory Affairs/2021) was promoted to Senior Regulatory Counsel at Whole Foods Market in October 2022.
• Ana Chilingarishvili (Minneapolis/Finance & Restructuring/2010) joined Target as Director Counsel - Operational Strategies in September 2022.
• Melissa Egan (Washington, D.C./Health Care/ 2012) was promoted to Managing Counsel at HCA Healthcare in September 2022.
• Kyla Rivera Smith (Philadelphia/Corporate/2013) joined BlackRock as Vice President, Legal Counsel at BlackRock in September 2022.
• Kelly Stone (Washington, D.C./Government & Regulatory Affairs/2002) joined TerraPower LLC as Senior Corporate Counsel in September 2022.
• Tina Hartley (Princeton/Corporate/2012) was promoted to Principal Counsel and Senior Manager in September 2022.

• Adam Barea (Washington, D.C./Intellectual Property/2001) joined YouTube as Legal Director in September 2022.

• David Moorehouse (Chicago/Intellectual Property/2003) was promoted to Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Marketing & Intellectual Property at Hyatt Hotels Corporation in September 2022.
• Michael Phillips (Philadelphia/Investment Management/2000) was promoted to General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Alumni Ventures in September 2022.
• Sanjee Weliwitigoda (Washington, D.C./Labor & Employment/2011) joined Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP as Senior Immigration Attorney in September 2022.
• Melinda Beck (Denver/Real Estate/2006) became Senior Assistant County Attorney for Jefferson County, Colorado in September 2022.
• Chad Priest (Indianapolis/Health & FDA/2005) was recently appointed Vice President, Southwest & Rocky Mountain Division of the American Red Cross. In this role, he provides leadership for humanitarian services in 12 states (AZ, NM, CO, WY, UT, NV, KS, OK, AR, MO, TX, LA).

• Eva Mendelsohn (Minneapolis/Intellectual Property/2014) joined Avantor as Senior Counsel, Commercial & Regulatory Litigation in September 2022.
• Regina Ashley (Indianapolis/Litigation/2001) joined the United Way of Central Indiana as Chief Operating Officer in September 2022.
• Jim Jacobson (Washington, D.C./Health Care/1993) joined NewAmsterdam Pharma as EVP, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel in September 2022.
• Hunter Metcalf (Denver/Corporate/2018) joined VSP Vision as Senior Counsel, M&A in September 2022.
• Blayre Marley (Indianapolis/Litigation/2017) joined Thermo Fisher Scientific as Sr. Manager, Corporate Counsel in September 2022.
• After more than 40 years with Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, David Maxey (Philadelphia/Real Estate/1960) retired in 2001. While in practice, he pursued his avocation as a historian, publishing articles on a variety of subjects. He picked up the pace in retirement. The American Philosophical Society (founded by Benjamin Franklin) accepted three monographs of his for publication and, most recently, for the Society's Proceedings an extended essay on an elusive self-portrait by a celebrated woman artist of the late 18th century, Angelica Kauffman.
• Doug Bruno (Philadelphia/Investment Management/2005) joined the Stevanato Group as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary in September 2022.
• Taylor Mullaney (Chicago/Litigation/2019) joined Quinn Emanuel as an associate in August 2022.
• Gus Cochran (Minneapolis/Litigation/2019) joined Ciresi Conlin LLP as an associate in August 2022.
• Jennifer Klear (Florham Park/Litigation/2001) joined Talk WW Production d/b/a Sherri as Vice President, Legal Affairs and Production Counsel in August 2022.
• Julie Bellville (Denver/IP/2007) joined Bryan Dave Leighton Paisner LLP as an associate in August 2022.
• Jennifer Roussil (Washington, D.C./2012) joined Freddie Mac as Associate General Counsel in August 2022.
• Jenna Saunders (Minneapolis/Intellectual Property/2021) joined Honigman LLP as an associate in August 2022.
• Katie Verschleden (Minneapolis/Corporate/2008) joined Pacific West Bank as SVP, Senior Associate General Counsel – Corporate & Securities in August 2022.
• Jennifer La Mont (Florham Park/Products Liability & Mass Tort/2001) was promoted to Executive Director, Senior Product Strategy Counsel at Novartis in August 2022.
• Jessie Shields (Philadelphia/Litigation/2008) was promoted to Senior Counsel at Aramark in August 2022.
• Holly Kopack Willobee (Chicago/Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation/2009) joined SAIC as Director, Executive Compensation in August 2022. 
• Sharon Reich Paulson (Minneapolis/Litigation/1988) joined The George Washington University as Executive Vice President and Chief Administration Officer in August 2022.
• Ron Tanner (Philadelphia/Corporate/2013) joined Venerable as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel in August 2022.
• Ariel Howe (Minneapolis/Intellectual Property/2014) joined Merchant & Gould P.C. as an associate in August 2022.
• Matthew McWilliams (Philadelphia/Intellectual Property/2005) joined Sandoz as Senior Patent Counsel in August 2022.
• Joseph Fanning (Florham Park/Products Liability & Mass Tort/2009) joined Brach Eichler LLC as an associate in August 2022.
• Louis Lambert (Minneapolis/Corporate/2000) joined APi Group as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary in August 2022.
• Kevin Kramer (Florham Park/Health Care/2000) joined Capital Health as Deputy General Counsel in August 2022.
• Michael Pulliam (San Francisco/Products Liability & Mass Tort/2004) joined CodeScience as Strategic Account Executive in August 2022.
• Stephanie Dodge Gournis (Chicago/Labor & Employment/2004) joined Exelon as Assistant General Counsel in July 2022.
• Tim McDermott (Chicago/Litigation/1990) joined TeraExchange as Chief Executive Officer in July 2022.
• Bill Campbell (Denver/Corporate/1995) retired as Executive Director of the Colorado Commission on Judicial Discipline on December 31, 2021. He celebrated his 50^th anniversary of being sworn in as a Colorado attorney just a few weeks before on October 1, 2021. Bill and his wife currently reside in Arvada, Colorado and are enjoying their four grown children and seven grandchildren and an occasional vacation and time on the golf course!
• Jon Laramore (Indianapolis/Business Litigation/2005) was elected a member of the American Law Institute in late 2021. He is currently executive director of Indiana Legal Services, a statewide civil legal aid organization.
• Caroline Lee (Denver/Product Liability & Mass Torts/2011) is now focusing full-time on immigration law with the boutique immigration law firm Curray York & Associates. Caroline and her family welcomed their third child last year and are enjoying life as a family of five.
• Wayne Rice worked at Faegre & Benson as a summer associate in 1991 and 1992 and joined the firm as a full-time associate in 1993 following a clerkship on the Minnesota Supreme Court. Wayne left the firm to join Honeywell, Inc. in 1996 and later opened his own firm. In 2003, Wayne returned to his hometown in San Diego, California and passed the California bar. For the past 11 years Wayne has practiced family law. In 2016, he became a Certified Legal Specialist in Family Law. Wayne has acted as a volunteer Mandatory Settlement Conference attorney in the San Diego County Superior Court on family law cases since 2018. Wayne is also a musician and plays in a New Orleans-style brass band called Euphoria Brass Band, which has released four CDs.
• Stan Wruble (South Bend/Litigation/1998) recently relocated his criminal defense law practice to Indianapolis.
