Robert Stoll Quoted in Bloomberg BNA on Industry Reception of Andrei Iancu’s Nomination for PTO Director

Robert Stoll, intellectual property partner in Washington, D.C., was recently quoted in Bloomberg BNA’s article, “Iancu Seen as Industry ‘Neutral’ PTO Director Pick.” Following President Trump’s nomination of Irell & Manella partner Andrei Iancu as the director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), the article covers responses to Iancu’s nomination among intellectual property attorneys and professionals. Several attorneys said that since he has represented a wide range of clients and is well-regarded for his experience and ability to remain neutral, he will not face much difficulty receiving confirmation.

Bob referring to Iancu’s work on behalf of Ariosa Diagnostics, a case that presented a setback for the biotech industry, notes, “Bio and pharma may be tentative in the beginning… [but Iancu] is going to be well received by the entire patent community.” In accord with Bob’s statement, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America industry group has said it is looking forward to working with him to protect intellectual property interests.
