In Memoriam: John T Cusack

It is with great sadness that we report the sad news that our former partner and good friend John Cusack passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. John joined Gardner Carton & Douglas on May 4, 1970 and was a larger than life leader of the firm’s Antitrust and Business Litigation Practice.

John first chaired many important antitrust cases on behalf of numerous clients of the firm, and was famous for his superb trial skills, fierce advocacy and bullish determination. John retired from the firm on April 7, 2009. Prior to joining GCD, John worked as a trial attorney in the U.S. Justice Department’s Antitrust Division from 1962 to 1970, including having served under Bobby Kennedy.

John earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1957, his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1960, and a master’s degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration in 1962. Our thoughts and prayers go out to John’s wife Weese and the entire Cusack family.
