Grant Nichols Thru-Hikes the Appalachian Trail and is Featured in The Philadelphia Lawyer Magazine

Former Life Insurance and Annuities group associate, Grant Nichols, recently hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in just a few months' time and was featured in the winter 2014 issue of The Philadelphia Lawyer. He left his life in Philadelphia behind (at least temporarily) in order to hike 2,185 miles over the rough terrains of the Appalachian Trail. On April 16, 2014, a van dropped Grant and about 20 other hikers off one mile below Springer Mountain in Georgia, the start of the Appalachian trail for Grant and the others hiking north. Despite a few challenges Grant faced over the course of the first few days of the hike (i.e., having his tent collapse on him on five consecutive nights), within a few weeks he had adjusted to living out of his 30-pound pack - making edible dinners, sleeping like a baby and hiking 20 miles each day. Click here to read more about Grant's journey and whether he felt the adventure was worth the time, energy and, money and gap in resume.

Grant joined Drinker Biddle in late October of 2006 and remained with the firm until October 2012 when he left to join Ironshore Insurance as Senior Production Specialist. Grant is currently consulting insureds on coverage and claims issues and volunteers as a coach at the Miami Beach Rowing Club. He hasn't ruled out a return to the Philadelphia area!
