Chicago Office Partners with Exelon for Pro Bono: Come Partner Wish Us Too

Chicago Office Partners with Exelon for Pro Bono for CDEL Pro Bono Clinic
Assisted Seniors With Powers of Attorney and Living Will Documents

On Friday, July 18, for the second consecutive year, Drinker Biddle’s Chicago office partnered with the Exelon Law Department for a significant pro bono project, this time to staff the Center for Disability and Elder Law’s Senior Center Initiative (SCI).

Thirty-eight attorneys and paralegals from the Chicago office joined 68 Exelon attorneys, paralegals and administrators at the Bridgeview Senior Center to assist clients with the preparation of Powers of Attorney for Health Care and Property and Living Will documents. These documents help seniors avoid potential abuse and financial exploitation, and prepare for possible guardianship proceedings, should they later become incapacitated.

All Exelon and Drinker Biddle attendees participated in a CLE program at the firm’s Chicago office, which was presented by a CDEL staff attorney, before boarding buses to Bridgeview, a nearby Chicago suburb. The clients were pre-screened prior to the event and arrived at Bridgeview ready to review and sign their documents. They left with final, fully executed advance directive documents. Buses then took all Exelon and Drinker Biddle participants to a downtown Chicago restaurant for a luncheon hosted by Exelon.

Join Us and Let’s Work Together For Our Communities

Pro bono and community service are among the most important and meaningful contributions a lawyer can make to the community. Throughout the firm’s history, we have dedicated ourselves to public service and improving and giving back to our communities. We continue to devote countless hours and resources to helping individuals and organizations who cannot afford lawyers, defending causes that require not just passion, but highly skilled advocacy.

We are always in search of additional opportunities to help others and make an impact on the communities we serve, and we encourage our attorneys to undertake public service and pro bono projects. If you need assistance, are interested in gaining experience or partnering on a pro bono matter, or if you or your team would like to join us in giving back to our communities by participating in any of our community service and pro bono activities, please contact alumni@faegredrinker.com or clientrelations@faegredrinker.com.
