Legal 500 U.S. Recommends Three Faegre Baker Daniels Practices

Three Faegre Baker Daniels legal practices have been recommended in the 2014 edition of Legal 500 United States. Recommended practices include capital markets: debt offerings, M&A: middle market and real estate.

The Legal 500 ranks law firms annually with a goal of helping corporate counsel select outside counsel. A team of experienced researchers conducts in-depth market research for several months, gathering information from the firms themselves, peers and clients.

The Legal 500 recommended Faegre Baker Daniels for its work on capital markets: debt offerings, and highlighted FaegreBD as "a leading presence in the Midwest, advising some of the region's best known names." FaegreBD's work counseling Wells Fargo and Simon Property Group was emphasized, with practice leader Sonia Shewchuk, Dawn Holicky Pruitt, David Worrell, Douglas Wright, Lisa Pugh and Morgan Burns receiving mentions for their contributions.

FaegreBD's mergers and acquisitions practice was highlighted for middle-market M&A work ($500m-$999m), with emphasis on its role as principal counsel to Hormel Foods Corporation during its $700 million acquisition of the Skippy peanut butter business from Unilever United States. M&A practice leader Bruce Engler was individually recommended, along with corporate group leader Chris Hofstad, Morgan Burns and Michael Stanchfield. The arrival of Michael Bolton in FaegreBD's Denver office was called out as a significant addition.

The real estate team at FaegreBD was described as "first-rate" for its handling of litigation, development, acquisitions, sales, distressed real estate, public-private partnerships, investment and finance matters, particularly in the retail sector. Scott Anderegg, Mary Lisher and Marc Pfleging were individually recommended.
