Drinker Biddle Joins the Law Firm Sustainability Network
News
Drinker Biddle’s Energy and Sustainability Team has helped clients become more sustainable and responsible in their everyday business. But it is one thing to “talk the talk” and another to “walk the walk”. That is why Drinker Biddle is proud to announce that the firm has joined the Law Firm Sustainability Network and will serve on the Network’s Leadership Council. The firm is proud to support the Network’s mission to develop key performance indicators, foster knowledge-sharing, develop best practice guidelines, and recognize innovation regarding environmental sustainability. We believe that by working collaboratively with others in the legal industry, we can have an even greater impact on preserving the environment.
Helping to lead the Network’s mission is Philadelphia partner C. Baird Brown, who will serve on the Network’s Board of Directors.
Drinker Biddle has already taken many proactive steps on the sustainability front, including formation of a “Green Team” in many of its offices to encourage sustainable practices, including recycling and the installation of energy efficient light switches, but we always strive to do better. The Network gives us some important tools to help do that.
Our clients and employees tell us they value environmental sustainability, and we agree.
Our Energy and Sustainability clients are especially engaged on this issue. Our Energy and Sustainability practice helps clients in a variety of practice areas. We have helped introduce and have passed public benefit corporation laws in over 20 states, including most recently in Delaware. We advised the State of Delaware on the formation of the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility, the first sustainable energy utility of its kind in the country. And, we served as counsel to the lead underwriter in connection with the financing for Poseidon Resource’s billion-dollar Carlsbad, Calif. desalination plant, which when constructed will be the largest seawater desalination plant in the United States.
Making our firm more sustainable is just another way to show our clients that we share their values when it comes to being sustainable.
