Real Estate, Environment & Insurance Lawyers Team Aid Morristown Redevelopment Project

Led by Partner Andy Norin, a cross-practice team of lawyers aided real estate development and investment firm Mill Creek Residential in closing the first phase of a major redevelopment project in Morristown, N.J.

When complete, the project will replace the town’s public works garage, close to Morristown’s “downtown,” with a luxury apartment building. It is Morristown’s first large-scale residential development in almost four years.

Key to closing the first phase of the project, announced January 2, was Andy’s efforts in drafting and negotiating the redevelopment agreement with the town, obtaining permits and approvals for the project and negotiating and closing all of the land acquisitions from both private party sellers and the Town.  Environmental Counsel regarding the remediation of the Town’s former Department of Public Works facility was handled by Partner, Joseph Schmidt. Additionally, an environmental insurance policy, which was instrumental to closing the deal, was negotiated by Partner Steve Serfass.  Support was provided by Associates Scott Hovanyetz and Andrew Camelotto who assisted with the approvals. Hovanyetz also provided primary support on the land closings along with paralegal Holly Burke.  Counsel was also provided by partners Jonathan Epstein (in negotiations with the Town) and Michael San Giacomo (on the financing).
