New Models of Hospital Physician Alignment

In response to opportunities under the Affordable Care Act, and as a means to achieve high-quality, cost-efficient and coordinated healthcare services, many hospitals and physicians are turning to new models of alignment. The program “New Models of Hospital-Physician Alignment,” organized by the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA), explored the various models and the associated strategic, financial and legal issues that must be considered by providers and their legal and financial advisers. The event took place on June 12.

George Kendall offered a legal perspective on the various models and critical success factors. His presentation covered:

  • Captive PCs, PSAs, and the Physician Enterprise Model.
  • Permissible Legal Structures.
  • Funding and Governance Issues.
