Brian Burke, Jane Dall Receive Leadership in Law Awards

Brian K. Burke and Jane A. Dall, both of Baker & Daniels LLP, received 2007 Leadership in Law Awards from Indiana Lawyer. The publication recognized outstanding attorneys from around the state in its May 2 issue.

Burke, chair and CEO of Baker & Daniels, was one of 15 lawyers receiving the Distinguished Barrister Award honoring individuals whose leadership – both in the legal profession and community services – has been exemplary and had significant impact during their careers.

Burke, a member of the Indiana bar for almost 29 years, was elected to Baker & Daniels' management committee in 1990 and appointed managing partner in 1993. He is responsible for providing effective, efficient service to clients through eight offices in Indiana, Washington, D.C. and China. In the community, Burke is president of the Indianapolis City Market Corporation's board of directors, serves on U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh's service academy selection committee and is immediate past president of the Boy Scouts of America's Crossroads of America Council.

Dall, an associate in business litigation at Baker & Daniels, was one of 15 individuals receiving the Up and Coming Award for lawyers who are early in their legal careers but have already demonstrated a knack for leadership and making an impact, as well as having the makings of becoming a distinguished barrister in the future.

Dall joined Baker & Daniels in 2004 after graduating from the University of Notre Dame Law School and clerking for the Honorable Kenneth F. Ripple in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Besides representing clients at trial and appellate levels in commercial and employment litigation matters, she is actively involved in the firm's Seventh Circuit pro bono initiative. Dall coordinates Baker & Daniels' volunteer tutoring program at Indianapolis Public School 39 and serves on the Southeast Neighborhood Development's board of directors.
