Long-time Technology Entrepreneur, Attorney Joins Baker & Daniels LLP

Nicholas E. (Nick) Mathioudakis, co-founder and managing director of JMM Ventures LLC and a legal and business adviser to high tech businesses, has joined Baker & Daniels LLP as a partner in the Emerging Companies and Private Capital Group.

Mathioudakis has extensive experience in building successful companies. He has been a practicing lawyer and technology executive, where he founded and invested in companies in the software, life sciences and financial services industries. His legal background includes technology development and licensing transactions, merger and acquisition transactions, capital formation, securities law and strategic planning.

Mathioudakis was engaged in private practice in Indianapolis until 2000 when he joined Aprimo Inc., where he served as its vice president of corporate development and general counsel. While with Aprimo, he helped the company raise more than $32 million of venture capital from leading venture capital firms. His other responsibilities at Aprimo included acquisition opportunities, business development and growth strategies. During his time at Aprimo, the company grew to become the leader of the enterprise marketing management software market.

Most recently, he was co-founder and managing director of JMM Ventures LLC in Indianapolis , which developed WillyLoman.com, a novel online networking community for sales and marketing professionals and business owners. While building his company, Mathioudakis also developed a legal and advisory consulting practice where he counseled high technology businesses concerning the legal, financial and business development challenges they faced. He brings his legal and advisory practice to Baker & Daniels.

Mathioudakis began his legal career as a business lawyer at Barnes & Thornburg and was vice chair of its entrepreneurial services group. Prior to and while attending law school, he was a certified public accountant and worked at Crowe Chizek and Company LLC, a leading public accounting firm, and Wood-Mizer Products Inc., the worldwide leading provider of portable sawmills.

Mathioudakis is participating in the current class in the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Program. He is a founding member of the Butler University Technology Transfer Advisory Board and has been a member of Techpoint since 2000. He has been a volunteer in the Taxpayer Assistance Program since 2002.

Mathioudakis graduated with honors in 1987 with a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Notre Dame. He graduated cum laude in 1994 from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis . He is admitted to the Indiana Bar and U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana bars, and is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association.
