Bennett, Schwartz to Speak at Orthopedic Conference

Steve Bennett and Michael Schwartz of Baker & Daniels LLP will discuss litigation management and intellectual property strategies Oct. 17 during the Orthopedic Design & Technology Conference at the Grand Wayne Convention Center in Fort Wayne.

The two-day conference and exhibition will focus on orthopedic manufacturing issues, strategies and networking. Bennett and Schwartz will lead the session on "Protecting Your Interest: Effectively Managing Litigation and Intellectual Property Strategies."

Bennett is a partner with Baker & Daniels, focusing on product liability litigation and risk management. He has spent the majority of his career providing legal support and advice to leading orthopedic and pharmaceutical companies. Bennett also provides daily legal counsel to medical device manufacturers and suppliers. In courts throughout the nation, he has defended orthopedic product components and materials.

Schwartz is an associate with Baker & Daniels, concentrating in intellectual property law. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications, including many cases directed to surgical techniques and orthopedic implants. Schwartz also serves clients by providing product clearance and patentability opinions, evaluating the validity of issued patents and developing design alternatives to avoid potential patent infringement.
