Taya Kyle, as executor of the estate of her late husband, United States Navy SEAL veteran Chris Kyle, won her appeal to the Eighth Circuit of a verdict awarding damages to former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura in his libel case over the book American Sniper. On June 13, 2016, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Ventura’s unjust enrichment claim outright and remanded for new trial on the defamation claim against the veteran's estate. Our firm represented the estate. Ventura v. Kyle, 825 F.3d 876 (8th Cir. 2016). The case subsequently settled.
