In August 2015, the Circuit Court of McHenry County dismissed with prejudice a retaliation lawsuit against Centegra brought by a former employee of its subsidiary, Northern Illinois Medical Center. Our firm assisted Centegra in filing its motions to dismiss, all of which were granted without prejudice.
The prior year, a registered nurse filed a complaint alleging retaliation in violation of the Illinois Hospital Report Card Act 210 ILCS § 86/35. The nurse alleged that she had advocated at meetings and to other nurses for professionalism in the workplace and how professionalism affects patient care and safety. She claimed Northern Illinois Medical Center terminated her in retaliation for these protected activities.
