Overview
Diego Alfonso Manrique counsels public and privately held companies on a wide variety of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and commercial transactions. He is also a member of the firm’s sports and gaming team and advises clients across the sports and entertainment industry on transactions including sponsorships and licensing.
Capital Markets
Diego has represented the issuers in several billion dollars’ worth of capital markets deals, including:
- Science Applications International Corporation in closing its $500 million senior high-yield notes offering.
- Biotechnology company Celcuity Inc.’s concurrent public offering of $201.3 million of 2.750% convertible senior notes due in 2031 and $97.7 million of common stock and pre-funded warrants.
- A predictive analytics software company in closing its $1.5 billion senior high-yield notes offering.
Mergers & Acquisitions
Diego represents public and private companies as well as private equity sponsors in a wide range of M&A and strategic transactions. His experience spans both buy-side and sell-side deals, including acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, and investments. He advises clients throughout the deal lifecycle — helping manage diligence, negotiating and drafting definitive agreements and ancillary documents, and coordinating cross-functional teams to execute efficient closings.
Sports & Entertainment
Diego’s sports and entertainment practice focuses on supporting international and domestic clients across the sector on corporate and commercial matters. He assists with sponsorships and strategic partnerships, licensing and merchandising arrangements, and other commercial agreements. Diego collaborates with colleagues across the firm (including IP and regulatory teams) to help clients navigate issue-spotting, diligence, and contract execution in a practical, business-aligned way. He is also actively involved in the firm’s sports and entertainment business development efforts, including client outreach and proposal support. Diego is an active member of the Sports Lawyers Association and participates in other industry events such as the World Football Summit and International Football Arbitration Moot.
Personal Interests
Diego is an avid marathon runner, participating in the Miami and Chicago marathons. Prior to law school, he spent time as a musician, playing in several indie bands.

- Diego’s pro bono practice focuses on immigration and asylum matters, advising nonprofit organizations on governance and transactional needs, and supporting the work of Lawyers for the Creative Arts and other local grassroots organizations involved in sports and the arts.
