Overview

Alicia Hickok is the co-chair of Faegre Drinker’s appellate team and has represented public entities as well as for-profit and nonprofit companies and individuals in more than 50 appeals in state and federal appellate courts. She has particular depth and breadth in the Pennsylvania court system, having argued extensively in all of the Pennsylvania appellate courts; but she has handled appeals in other states and in several of the federal Courts of Appeals, as well as amicus and merits briefing in the United States Supreme Court. Her appeals have clarified important points of constitutional, statutory and contract law. Alicia’s clients have recognized that her analytical skills and careful attention to clients’ voices are important for client counseling and negotiation, as well as for litigation before agencies, arbitral (including international) tribunals and trial courts.

Throughout her career Alicia has been dedicated to the legal profession. She has always maintained an active pro bono practice, addressing issues under the United States and Pennsylvania Constitutions and statutes. She served as deputy counsel and counsel to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Appellate Procedural Rules Committee and has provided training to the bench and bar, as well as to law clerks. She has also been active in the American Bar Association and has been on panels at the Appellate Judges Education Institute. Alicia has been a leader of the Council of Appellate Lawyers for the Judicial Division and is currently co-chair of the Book Board and the Amicus Curiae Committees of the Section of Litigation. She is also a member of the International Bar Association. She has published on fiduciary duty and corporate governance, and has taught appellate advocacy and professional responsibility as an adjunct at Penn.

Alicia is chair of the Governance Committee for the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Pennsylvania, a member of the Board of Directors of Fraunhofer USA and a member of the University of Pennsylvania Law Alumni Society Board of Managers.

She has a certificate in Mediating Disputes from the Harvard Program on Negotiation.
