Sheila Fisher draws on over a decade and a half of legal experience in researching, drafting, filing legal documents and trial/hearing experience.

Prior Experience

Before joining Faegre Drinker, Sheila served as a litigation paralegal in the in-house legal department of an insurance company in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, doing work for the states of Minnesota, Georgia and Florida. In that capacity, she worked with clients; anticipated file and attorneys’ needs;; assisted in trial preparation; preparation of trial notebooks; preparation of demonstrative evidence; coordinated schedules with lay and expert witnesses; drafted pleadings, discovery documents, motions, correspondence and legal memorandums under the supervision of an attorney; initiated and conducted investigation and discovery under limited supervision; represented insureds or the company in small claims/conciliation court for defense or subrogation matters where allowed; maintained and managed confidential file materials; reviewed files to determine issues, records needed and the possibility of settlement; obtained all appropriate records and organized files; requested needed discovery and authorizations from claimants; and negotiated settlement within authority for conciliation court files.

She assisted legal services managers with assigning and setting up new files. She held one of the administrative licenses to update/create new documents and transformed the newly opened Georgia office's documents/templates. She set the Georgia office up in Odyssey so that all attorneys/staff were under the company umbrella. Held numerous trainings/developments for staff/attorneys.

Sheila assisted with onboarding and helped new employees get their systems running, training them on programs, following up to make sure things are running smoothly and being available after training to answer questions and mentoring.

She also performed legal research using all available resources to identify most current and applicable law; organized and presented legal research in memorandum form; and assisted in writing legal briefs.

Personal Interests

When not at work, Sheila enjoys traveling, home remodeling, building a tiny house on her vacation property and, above all, spending time with her two beautiful daughters, son-in-law and grandson.
