Steven Francis Shares Insights on UK Anti-Fraud Reforms with Law360

London insurance partner Steven Francis spoke with Law360 about proposed reforms to the UK’s anti-fraud framework that would create a new corporate criminal offense for failing to prevent fraud on digital platforms and incentivize investment in fraud detection technology.

According to Law360, the offense would not impose strict liability but would instead require companies to implement "reasonable prevention procedures” tailored to the platform's size, risk profile, and operational capacity.

"Consideration should be given to whether it is made an offense per se not to put in place reasonable prevention procedures," Francis noted. "This really will focus corporate minds, and mirrors the law for workplace health and safety."
