Women on Boards: Report Flags Concern That AIM-listed Companies May Be Returning to All-male Boards

Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence

London-based partner Melanie Wadsworth authored an article for Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence titled, “Women on Boards: report flags concern that AIM-listed companies may be returning to all-male boards.” Within the article, she analyzes representation of women and ethnic minorities in the influential boardroom positions (chair, CEO, SID and CFO) at UK-listed companies.

Wadsworth summarizes a recent report published by WB Directors, where it was noted that only 6.8% of CEO positions were held by women and the role of chair was held by a woman in only 7.9% of AIM companies.

Multiple studies have shown that organizations with diverse leadership deliver stronger operational results. Only 24% of respondents to the WB Directors report said their organization’s diversity goals are well-resourced, and 34% considered the resourcing behind such goals was partially or substantially insufficient.
