Ryan Shay Speaks About His Time Working on Capitol Hill With The Political Life

In a podcast episode titled “Meet a Capitol Hill Expert!” The Political Life spoke with government relations & regulatory affairs director Ryan Shay about his time as a former Capitol Hill staffer and his current consulting work at the firm.

Shay noted that he served as a Hill staffer for years spanning the Obama, Trump and Biden administrations, and he recalled what it’s like to work on Capitol Hill during noteworthy events such as the election of 2016, the COVID-19 pandemic and the January 6 insurrection.

With Faegre Drinker, Shay explained that he is part of the firm’s consulting practice, supporting client objectives and priorities in Congress from the authorizing side to the appropriations side, which concerns funding and is a reason he spends time on the Hill today.
