Fiscal Strategies to Help Cities Recover—And Prosper

In an article for the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government’s 2020 research series, Faegre Drinker Consulting Principal Skip Stitt and Stephen Goldsmith, Director of the Innovations Programs at the Harvard Kennedy School, co-authored a checklist of changes for cities to consider in order to manage effective financial strategies during the coronavirus crisis.

In the article “Fiscal Strategies to Help Cities Recover—And Prosper,” the authors write that while cities are faced with massive revenue shortfalls and huge increased demand for services, public managers will need to look past ideological moorings and embrace an “all of the above” mindset when it comes to managing costs.
