Sondra Sylva and Alex Shilliday Author Chapter for DRI’s Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Compendium

Dallas partner Sondra Sylva and senior attorney Alex Shilliday authored the Texas chapter of DRI’s Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Compendium. The Compendium addresses each state’s version of the National Association of Insurance Commissioner’s Model Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act (UCP). Sondra and Alex provide an overview of Texas’ statutes and case law setting forth various UCP practices and timing requirements for insurers, including a legislative update, and also provide some best practices for handing “bad faith” claims in the state.
