The Naples Roundtable: Exploring Ways to Strengthen & Improve the Patent System

Partner and deputy chair of the intellectual property group, Bob Stoll, moderated a panel at the Naples Roundtable in Naples, Florida. The panelists included Sherry Knowles (Knowles IP), Bob Armitage (former general counsel of Lily) and Janet Pioli (Crowell). Bob and the panel discussed issues related to continuation practice, obviousness-type double patenting and reexamination. The invitation-only group of over 100 was attended by high-level judges and practitioners, including U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Director Vidal, Chief Judge Gilchrest of the Eastern District of Texas, many current and retired judges from the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and well known patent litigators.
