Overview

Four Faegre Drinker colleagues participated in the American Telemedicine Association’s EDGE2023 Policy Conference, an event focused on exploring the latest in state, federal and international telehealth policies.

Director Elliot Vice’s panel, “Heard on the Hill,” discussed the latest in important telehealth legislation, the outlook for telehealth permanency, and Hill priorities such as the CONNECT for Health Act, and the challenges and opportunities ahead for telehealth legislation.

Partner Libby Baney spoke on the panel, "Safe Prescribing of Controlled Substances," which examined the latest challenges in policy directed at safe access to the prescribing of controlled substances and what is needed to make implementation a success.

Senior manager Nisha Quasba’s session, “Telehealth’s Super Bowl: What’s at Stake for Federal Policy,” took a look at the landmark developments anticipated in 2024. With multiple legislative and regulatory deadlines approaching on December 31, 2024, policy and regulatory decisions made in 2024 will have significant impact and consequences on virtual care’s future in care delivery.

Associate Andy Taylor’s discussion, “Cracking Down on Security Risks,” examined the FTC’s latest work on data privacy and security affecting the telehealth industry, including the FTC’s health breach notification rule, biometric information policy statement, health information web tracking guidance, and recent enforcement actions that companies need to consider.
