Elizabeth Williams, Senior Counsel - Real Estate, for Sears Holdings Management Corp Receives First Chair Award

Alumnus Elizabeth Williams, Senior Counsel - Real Estate for Sears Holdings Management Corporation, is a 2014 First Chair Award recipient for Top Real Estate Counsel.

The First Chair Awards is an annual selection of in-house counsel who have, through their hard work and innovation, made significant contributions to the legal community. The award program honors the top in-house counsel for their accomplishments in the past year in a wide range of categories.

Elizabeth and the other award recipients will be honored at the annual First Chair awards conference and gala on August 24, 2014 at the University Club in Chicago, Illinois.

Elizabeth joined Gardner Carton & Douglas in 2000 and was a member of the firm's Real Estate practice group through 2009. Prior to joining Sears, Elizabeth taught "Advanced Contract Drafting for Real Estate Transactions" at the John Marshal Law School. She graduated from Acadia University with honors and received a B.A. in English. Elizabeth received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and then was a Law Clerk for the U.S. District Court of Northern Illinois before joining Pedersen & Houpt as an associate (December 1996 – January 1997) and then Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP as an associate (February 1997 – April 2000).
