Murray Clark Discusses Health Care and Job Growth in an Inside Indiana Business Roundtable
Faegre Baker Daniels partner and former Indiana state senator Murray Clark participated in a roundtable hosted by Gerry Dick on Inside Indiana Business focusing on business expansions and politics in Indiana.
The Healthy Indiana Plan 2.0, or HIP 2.0, was unveiled by Governor Pence at the end of January, 2015. The state program could provide coverage to as many as 350,000 uninsured Hoosiers. Clark showed support for the innovative program. “The states are coming up with innovations, the creative ideas, and the federal government can learn a lot from the states. It’s frustrating that it took so long for approval.”
While unemployment in Indiana ticked up slightly in December to 5.8 percent, Clark expressed optimism about the state economy on news of Mercedes Benz’ plans to open a manufacturing facility in northern Indiana. “The Mercedes plant is in an area of the state that needs it, but there are skilled workers up there. The RV industry has bounced back, so there’s a workforce there,” Clark said.
