Murray Clark on Inside Indiana Business: Raise Indy Mayor's Salary to Continue to Attract ‘Capable, Credible Leaders'

Faegre Baker Daniels partner and former Indiana state senator Murray Clark appeared on the Dec. 5 edition of Inside Indiana Business’s weekly “INsiders” panel, along with Katie Culp, KSM Location Advisors president, Trevor Yager, Trendyminds president and CEO, and host Gerry Dick. The panel touched on timely issues including a recent proposal to raise the salary for Indianapolis’s mayor by 30 percent.

“If we’re going to attract good, capable, credible leaders with executive experience and management experience, we just have to pay our elected officials more, including the mayor,” Clark said. “We’ve been very fortunate in this community to pay our mayor so poorly and have such wonderful mayors.”

The panel also weighed in on the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s (IEDC) regional cities initiative, Indianapolis’s bid to host college football’s national championship game and the consequences of consolidation in the commercial real estate market.
