Overview
Chicago partner Kathleen M. Murphy, head of the firm’s Customs & Trade practice, spoke at the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI) Annual Conference in New York. Kathleen participated on the panel “Adding Value in Troubled Times: Tangible Benefits of Trade Compliance” along with senior business representatives of Hewlett Packard, Target Corporation and Bayer Corporation. The panel addressed options available to multinational companies engaged in global trade for reducing sourcing costs and operational expenses, included utilizing Free Trade Agreements, positioning for reduced entered value in multi-tiered buy/sell arrangements, claiming duty drawback, establishing a Foreign Trade Zone and conducting self-filing of entry declarations.
