N.J. Senate Confirms Scott A. Coffina to be Burlington County’s Next Prosecutor
The New Jersey Senate, on March 13, 2017, unanimously confirmed the nomination of Gov. Chris Christie’s senior deputy chief counsel, Scott A. Coffina, as Burlington County’s next prosecutor. Scott will replace Robert Bernardi who will return to private practice. Gov. Christie nominated Scott for the position on February 28, 2017.
A former Drinker Biddle partner, Scott has served as a counsel to Gov. Christie since August 2015. He is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Scott joined the firm in 2012 from Montgomery McCracken in Philadelphia. While a member of the White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Team, Scott focused his practice on internal investigations, False Claims Act litigation, political-legal controversies, and additional civil, criminal or regulatory enforcement actions. He also served on the Advisory Board to the firm’s District Policy Group.
From May 2007 until January 2009, Scott served in the White House as an associate counsel to President George W. Bush. Prior to that, he served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
