Bob Stoll Quoted in Law360 on PTAB Proceedings

Washington, D.C., partner and co-chair of the IP Group Bob Stoll was quoted in an article titled, “Icon of IP: USPTO Director Michelle Lee,” in Law360.

The article takes an in-depth look at Michelle Lee, the first woman and Asian-American to lead the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and some of the difficulties she and her organization are facing.

One of these difficulties and most important initiatives for the agency is improving patent quality. Further improving the quality of issued patents will help to reduce criticisms of the PTAB proceedings for being tipped too far in favor of petitioners.

In the article, Bob comments that, “Better quality patents will prevent the harassment of small businesses by aggregators who sometimes rely on vague and likely invalid, patents.”
