Drinker Biddle Announces Its Leadership of New Information Governance Initiative

Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP today announced that it will serve as a charter sponsor of the newly formed Information Governance Initiative (IGI), a cross-disciplinary consortium and think tank focused on advancing the adoption of information governance practices and technologies. The IGI will focus on publishing research, benchmarking surveys and providing guidance for practitioners.

In addition to its role as charter sponsor, Drinker Biddle’s Bennett B. Borden will serve as the IGI founder and chair, Jason R. Baron will serve as co-chair and Jay Brudz will serve as its general counsel. All three lawyers are part of the firm’s Information Governance and eDiscovery Practice Group and will support the Initiative’s efforts under the leadership of IGI founder and executive director Barclay T. Blair.

“We are thrilled to support and be an integral part of the IGI and its mission to use information as a positive transformative force in the world,” said Borden, IGI chair and co-chair of Drinker Biddle’s Information Governance and eDiscovery practice. “With our efforts to serve as a bridge organization, bringing all facets of information governance together, the IGI can be a driving force in helping organizations harvest the value of their information.”

Dedicated to bringing together like-minded individuals to share knowledge and experience in an effort to maximize the potential of information governance, the group’s membership comprises professionals and organizations representing all facets of information governance, including information security, data science, eDiscovery, business management, business intelligence, analytics, records management and more.

“Current information practices are unsustainable, particularly in our ever-increasing big data world, so the need for an organization such as the IGI is more important than ever,” said Baron, co-chair of the IGI and counsel in Drinker Biddle’s Information Governance and eDiscovery practice. “By bringing senior information governance professionals together, we can help harness the power of information and address the increasing challenges we face.”
