Drinker Biddle Celebrates 165 Years: Thanks, Celebration and Reflection

Drinker Biddle Celebrates 165 Years
A Message of Thanks, Celebration and Reflection To Our Alumni

To Our Alumni Family:

Drinker Biddle is proud to celebrate our 165th anniversary in 2014. I am using this special occasion to offer a message of thanks and appreciation, for the contributions and the culture of excellence you have helped foster since our founding in 1849.

As one of our alumni, you are part of a legacy and a common thread that we are proud to celebrate. This firm is a place where we all aspire to achieve great work and training and, perhaps above all, create lasting friendships and relationships that extend beyond the workplace. I know an anniversary is in many ways just another year, but a milestone is one of those things in life that unifies us. Certainly, reaching 165 years is a significant accomplishment.

Shortly before Thanksgiving, offices across the firm gathered to commemorate the anniversary with a champagne toast led by Chairman, Alfred W. Putnam, Jr., and Chair-Elect, Andrew C. Kassner. We thought you would like to hear the remarks. You can watch here.

We invite you to share your firm memories or thoughts with your alumni community. Please send them to me at abby.ranaan@faegredrinker.com for posting on the alumni website. You can also contribute to our Drinker Biddle Alumni LinkedIn Group.

Once again, thank you to all our alumni. It’s been a privilege to have you as part of our firm’s history and we look forward to continuing to create lasting memories, to enhancing our relationships and to working with you to sustain our commitment to excellence in the practice of law, public service and a civil society.

Here are some of the thoughts from you alumni community:

"Thank-you for sharing the Putnam/Kassner toasts. Although I was at Drinker for “only” 14 years (+ 1 summer along with a promising summer associate named “Alfie”, a name I had never heard before), I am proud and blessed to have experienced firsthand the DBR culture and training described by Alfie and Andy; which I believe I have carried with me and benefitted from, and shared with the many young lawyers I have had the privilege to train and help “form”, in my 24 years since leaving DBR. I recall my DBR experiences and friends “like they were yesterday”, and I am glad that I have them."

"I could not agree more with Alfie….the lawyer I am today has an awful lot to do with the lawyers I worked with for 6 ½ years at DBR. It was marvelous training.

"Great note. I’m certainly proud to be a Drinker alum."

"It’s such a unique place – big firm talent and presence with a true feeling of community. Family, even. I will always remember a partner’s words to me when I left Drinker….'Remember, you can always come home.' That’s what it is to me. The best professional years, and where I made some amazing friends and colleagues. I’m so happy and humbled to be a part of the legacy of Drinker."
