Firm Merger with Gardner Carton Noted as a “Model Merger”

Chicago Lawyer earlier this month highlighted the seven-year anniversary of the Drinker Biddle-Gardner Carton merger, talking with several lawyers about the combination and the future of the firm.

In the article, reporter Roy Strom talked with Partners Jesse Ruiz, Doug Swill, Kathi Murphy, Ed Getz, Darren Cahr and Ted Becker. Combined, they talked about the culture of the combined firms, the lessons learned from the combination, the growth that the merger has helped accelerate and plans for expanding the firm’s Chicago presence.

The article noted that the 2007 pairing of the legacy firms was the sixth-largest merger that year, in terms of total lawyers involved. It also said that the success of the merger has been measurable.
