FaegreBD Client Hormel's Acquisition of Skippy® Named an M&A Advisor Deal of the Year

Hormel Foods Corporation's acquisition of Skippy® peanut butter was named a Deal of the Year at the 12th Annual M&A Advisor Awards in New York City. Faegre Baker Daniels represented Hormel in the $700 million transaction, which won in the Consumer and Retail Products category among deals valued over $100 million.

The compressed period of time during which the transaction was negotiated and agreed to, the complexity of the China structure, and the acquisition's immediate positive impact on Hormel's performance made the acquisition a winning nominee. For more detailed information about Hormel's acquisition of Skippy®, see the January 2013 press release.

FaegreBD corporate partner George Martin led the team representing Hormel in the acquisition of Skippy®. Corporate partner Ryan Miske was also instrumental to the team's success, as were many other colleagues in the firm's U.S. and China offices.

The 12th Annual M&A Advisor Awards honored the leading deal teams, firms and dealmakers whose activities set the standard for M&A transactions. This year, more than 400 nominees representing more than 850 companies became finalists for the awards. An independent judging committee of 23 top M&A industry experts determined the award recipients.
