Baker & Daniels' Murray Clark Named Chair of The Indianapolis Foundation

J. Murray Clark, a partner at Baker & Daniels LLP, has been named chair of The Indianapolis Foundation.

Clark has served on the Foundation's Board of Trustees since 2005, including as vice chair in 2009. As chair in 2010, he succeeds Cynthia Simon Skjodt, philanthropist and community volunteer who was recently reappointed by Mayor Greg Ballard for a second, six-year term as a trustee.

"Murray's great connections and passion for our community will result in some tremendous advances for The Indianapolis Foundation during his leadership this year," Brian Payne, president of The Indianapolis Foundation, said in a news release from the organization. "As the Foundation continually looks to deepen our relationships and impact in Marion County, having Murray as our advocate and leader will lead to great success."

The Indianapolis Foundation is an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation. Others on The Indianapolis Foundation's Board of Trustees in 2010 are Alan A. Levin, Vice Chair; D. William Moreau, Jr., Secretary; Sarah Wilson Otte; Cynthia Simon Skjodt; Milton O. Thompson; and Brian Payne, President.

The original 1916 resolution of trust requires The Indianapolis Foundation to have six trustees. Two are appointed by the Mayor of Indianapolis; two by the Marion County Circuit Court Judge; and two by the United States District Court presiding over Indianapolis. Each trustee is appointed to serve a six-year term.

At Baker & Daniels, Clark practices in several legal areas, including government services, administrative law and real estate. Before joining the law firm, he served 11 years as an Indiana State Senator, representing portions of Marion and Hamilton counties. Clark has served as chairman of the Indiana Republican Party since 2006.
