Baker & Daniels Honored for United Way Giving

Baker & Daniels LLP was again recognized by the United Way of Central Indiana for achieving growth in giving. The firm was among five companies honored for "breakthrough" campaigns in 2007 by increasing its corporate fundraising for three or more years. Baker & Daniels also received the award in 2005 and 2006.

John Neighbours, a Baker & Daniels partner, served as chairman of the Board of Directors for Central Indiana's United Way campaign that raised a record $39 million in 2007.

"Our firm's giving was truly exceptional," Dan Lechleiter and Derek Empie, co-chairs of Baker & Daniels' 2007 United Way campaign, said in a joint announcement. "We exceeded our goal, and that strong outpouring of support will help make a great impact on the Central Indiana community."

Neighbours said the leadership of Lechleiter and Empie translated into outstanding response and results at Baker & Daniels.

"No leaders of our campaign have ever been more enthusiastic or better organized," Neighbours said. "In the last four years, the caring lawyers and staff at Baker & Daniels have contributed so generously that we've now moved our campaign into one of the leading campaigns in Central Indiana."

Serving six Central Indiana counties, United Way of Central Indiana helps improve lives and build stronger communities through support of innovative, practical and efficient human services programs that address local needs. The organization also assists in reducing the needs of future generations by helping ensure that children enter school ready to learn and leave school ready to earn.
