Baker & Daniels in Indiana Top 20 for "Best Places to Work"

Baker & Daniels LLP was named among the top 20 Hoosier large companies in "Best Places to Work in Indiana," according to a 2007 survey sponsored by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Final winners were announced during an awards luncheon May 2, and recipients were featured in the May/June issue of BizVoice magazine.

Baker & Daniels was the only law firm employer listed among the large-sized companies, which included businesses consisting of 250 or more employees. The program is designed to honor businesses that create a productive environment in which employees feel valued.

Honorees were chosen through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys. The Best Companies Group, which conducts similar programs in 18 other states, produced the "Best Places to Work in Indiana" list with ModernThink LLC, a workplace excellence consulting firm who handled the selection process. All companies that participated in the "Best Places to Work" program receive an in-depth evaluation identifying strengths and weaknesses according to their employees. In turn, this report can be used in developing or enhancing employee retention and recruitment programs.

One of Baker & Daniels' best practices spotlighted by the Indiana Chamber was the firm's employee volunteer program with Indianapolis Public School 39. Since 2000, Baker & Daniels has provided paid volunteer time as a benefit. Hourly employees are given up to eight hours of paid leave per semester to tutor elementary students at School 39.

Founded in 1863, Baker & Daniels has more than 600 full-time employees. One of Indiana's largest law firms with more than 375 lawyers and consulting professionals, Baker & Daniels serves clients in regional, national and international business and litigation matters from offices in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend and Elkhart, Ind.; Washington, D.C.; and China.
