Military Contractor Defeats Liability Claims in State Appellate Court

United States - Texas

Military contractor M1, based in Denton, Texas, defeated multiple liability claims, including wrongful death and personal injury claims, in the Texas Second Court of Appeals. Faegre Drinker defended M1 in the matter.

M1 was contracted to provide helicopter maintenance services to the U.S. Navy when a fatal crash occurred during a training exercise. The crash was found to be caused by a fire due to problems with the aircraft’s electrical wiring. M1 argued that liability for the crash rested with the Navy and the direction it provided to M1. A lower trial court agreed, and the state appellate court affirmed the lower court’s decision.
