Associate
Overview
Asher Young advises clients on a range of government contracting and education law matters across local, state and federal landscapes. Asher employs a cross-disciplinary and detail-oriented approach, integrating strong advocacy with practical problem-solving and strategic counsel across litigation, transactional and counseling matters.
Government Contracts
Asher supports clients across a wide variety of industries as they navigate the complexities of government contracting at the federal, state and local levels, with experience in litigating bid protests, contract disputes, and APA actions in both federal and state courts, before the Government Accountability Office, and other administrative forums. He has experience advising clients on ethics and compliance, contract negotiation, cybersecurity and privacy issues, subcontracting, terminations, claims, regulatory compliance, and internal and government investigations, including those related to enforcement under the False Claims Act. In addition, Asher is a key advisor on corporate transactions involving government contractors. He is also a member of the firm’s Aerospace and Defense and National Security Task Forces.
Higher Education
Asher advises clients on a broad range of education law and regulatory compliance matters, including accreditation and Title IV and other federal student aid programs. He also supports investigations and policy development at institutions of higher education, and contributes to the firm’s work on transactions involving postsecondary institutions and advising clients on emerging education policy.
Prior Experience
Before joining the firm, Asher served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Marjorie O. Rendell at the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, where he helped draft opinions and prepared bench memoranda for pending cases. Asher first joined Faegre Drinker as a summer associate, where he drafted motions in limine, subpoena requests and motions for summary judgment for business and environmental matters. As a legal intern with the Administrative Conference of the United States, Asher conducted extensive federal administrative law research and tracked and analyzed legislative proposals affecting federal agencies. Before his career in law, Asher was an associate at a civic sector consulting firm, where he counseled nonprofits, government agencies and philanthropies on program design and strategic planning.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Asher is an avid baseball fan and enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants and visiting museums around D.C.
