George R. Mesires

As co-leader of the firm's senior living and care team, George is a trusted adviser to both for-profit and nonprofit senior housing operators. He has represented clients in:

• Affiliations, acquisitions, and financings
• Governance and board advisory
• Litigation and government investigations
• Restructuring and bankruptcy proceedings

George regularly writes and speaks for senior living operators, with a focus on corporate governance, financial preparedness, and best practices. He previously served on the boards of:

• The Kendal Corporation, the 14th-largest sponsor of life plan communities in the United States (Chair, Finance Committee)
• The Admiral at the Lake, Chicago's oldest life plan community (Finance Committee, Community Experience & Compliance Committee)

Previous Experience

Prior to private practice, George was general counsel for a start-up telecommunications company, where he handled all legal affairs for the company, including the distressed sale process for substantially all of the company's assets to a regional telecommunications company.

Before serving as in-house counsel, George was an assistant attorney general in the New York State Attorney General's Office.

Personal Interests

In his free time, George enjoys duck hunting, training his Labrador retriever, and researching vintage waterfowl decoys. He also enjoys fishing, alpine skiing, and hiking.
