Fariha Kabir counsels clients on matters pertaining to U.S. customs and international trade.
Customs & International Trade
Fariha represents clients on both compliance and litigation matters. She regularly assists clients in crafting responses to CBP’s requests for information. She also assists on classification and country of origin reviews.
Clients benefit from Fariha’s experience as an international trade attorney for U.S. Customs & Border Protection. Fariha served for four years in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP), as general attorney of international trade litigation, where she handled legal matters involving U.S. customs law, and represented and defended government interests before the U.S. Court of International Trade involving issues of tariff classification, valuation, Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, drawback, interpretation and application of trade-related presidential proclamations, and free trade agreements.
Prior Experience
Prior to CBP, Fariha was a tax credit transactions associate at an Am Law 100 firm in Boston, where she represented underwriters/arrangers and institutional debt/equity investors in structuring and negotiating tax-advantaged debt and equity investments.
In law school, she externed in the Massachusetts Department of Revenue’s Office of the General Counsel, during which she conducted two depositions. She also interned with Judge Denise J. Casper in the Federal District Court of Massachusetts and with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston.

In her free time, Fariha enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as traveling and reading.
